2010 Barn of the Year Award
PURPOSE
To recognize barn owners who have made efforts to preserve their barns and help to provide preservation examples and ideas to other barn owners.
GOALS
- Encourage barn preservation
- Collect preservation ideas
- Collect approximate preservation cost date
- Study preservation motivation
- Increase FoMB out-state participation
- Increase FoMB website traffic
- Increase FoMB publicity
CATEGORIES
- FARM USE (Barns actively used to store grains or farm amchinery or to house farm animals)
- NON-FARM USE (Barns with all other uses)

RULES
- Barn Owners shall complete the nomination form that can be found2010 Barn of the Year Award Nomation Formhere
- Nominations should include photos to help evaluate preservation effort. This is not a photo contest
- Photos shall be 4" x 6" and personally shot (no professional photos)
- No more than 5 photos will be accepted
- Photos cannot be returned
- Nominations/entries must be received by September 15, 2010
- Judges will be selected by the FoMB Board of Directors
- Entries are to be judge on historical significance, preservation efforts, preservation creativity, and perceived future of the barn
- Judges will determine the weighting of the criteria
- Judging shall be accomplished in a way that all entries are treated equal with disregard to location, owner's name, or FoMB membership
- Winners do not need to be present for the awards ceremony but will be encouraged to attend
- All submitted materials become property of Friends of Minnesota Barns and may be used in anyway deemed necessary to promote barn preservation
- Past winners need to demonstrate new preservation efforts to be considered again
