Announcing our First Annual Barn of the Year Award!
Do you own a barn?
Have you spent time, money, and energy to preserve it?
If so, you may be deserving of recognition and prizes for your efforts!
Submit a nomination form, either a printed version by mail or the online form, by September 5, 2008 and you might be one of our winners!
Why is FoMB hosting this award?
To recognize barn owners who have made efforts to preserve their barns and to provide preservation examples and ideas for others wishing to preserve their barns.
How to Enter:

Mailed materials must be postmarked no later than September 5, 2008. Goals:
- Encourage barn preservation
- Collect preservation ideas
- Collect approximate preservation cost data
- Study preservation motivation
- Increase FoMB out-state participation
- Increase FoMB website traffic
- Increase FoMB publicity
Categories:
1. Family-owned barns
2. Organizational-owned barns (i.e. historical societies, governmental agencies, and other non-profit groups
Grand Prizes: (one for each category)
- Preservation Plaque,
- $250.00 Cash,
- FoMB Annual Membership,
- Website Recognition,
- Newsletter Recognition, and
- Other Donated Prizes.
Honorable Mention Prizes: (number to be determined by judges for each category)

Rules:
- Barn Owners shall complete a nomination form that can be found on FoMB’s website. The form may be submitted in print by US Mail or using the online submission form.
- Nominations should include photos, but limited to 4 or 5 images.
- Nominations / entries must be postmarked by September 5, 2008.
- Judges will be selected by the FoMB Board of Directors .
- Entries will be judged on historical significance, preservation efforts, preservation creativity, and perceived future of the barn.
- Judges will determine the weighting of the criteria.
- Judging shall be accomplished in a way that all entries are treated equal without regard to location, owner’s name, or FoMB membership.
- Winners need not be present for the awards ceremony but are encouraged to attend.
- All submitted materials become property of Friends of Minnesota Barns and may be used in anyway deemed necessary to promote barn preservation.
